Unmasked

Your joy is your sorrow unmasked.
And the selfsame well from
which your laughter rises was oftentimes
filled with your tears.
The deeper that sorrow carves into your being,
the more joy you can contain.

Hi Zahir, Trust you are doing fine in this Ramadan. Best wishes in all your undertakings. 😃
Alhamdulillah, I am doing fine half way. thank you Michael…..:)
Did you write this? And by the way, can’t figure out by the pics…are you a man or a woman? I’m so sorry for asking…but I was just curious…
Its from Khalil, I hope you liked it. just click on my gravatar and u will see the magic. hahaha
There is nothing wrong for asking off-course I am a man…..:)
Well, I thought it was a woman at first because of all of the girly stuff…the hearts and vines and flowers and pics of women’s eyes and stuff…then I was looking at the pics on your gravatar..and there was one woman and a bunch of guys…so I thought, this is either a woman who has a serious crush on this one guy…because she’s painting him too…or this is a guy who has all of this women stuff because he likes nice looking women! I hope I did not offend..I am just being honest. So then I looked around and realized there is no mention of who tale of the heart is and men usually are not so passionate about love, poetry, and things like that. It is a good thing you are this way, I do not mean any rudeness or insult. Kudos to you!
You could come to the U.S. and train some of the men here! LOL
omg, offcourse men loves women. hahahaaaaaaa your statement really made me laugh. I cant resist the beauty thats for sure…… you must be joking if men dont do poetry or stuff offcourse they do. you are probably wrong side of the world then lolz.
I am very grateful for your comments as it made me laugh before Sahur….. God bless you
Well, some men do poetry..but you only hear about them online or else they are not the men who like women! They are usually reading their poetry to another man while sharing a tall glass of wine and playing Sinatra music! LOL These are the kind of men women like, but cannot find…. so, like I said, you need to start another blog offering courses on being more compassionate, loving, passionate, caring, honest, sympathetic, emotional, sincere, and speaking in other languages other than food and television! ha ha ha! Because most men around here think of their stomach and the tv set!
lolz.. some men? I assure you that you are living wrong side of the world thats why.lol i dont mind sinatra but love more easy listing rather. hahahahaaaa starting courses? thats I cant do half of my family is in education and half in defence forces, I think it is a hard job to educate. and u cant educate one who is not willing to learn.
I love good food though yummy. TV not the preference rather strole on the beach, and bbq’s
I’ve been eating green leafy veggies, fresh veggies, salmon and chicken, sweet potatoes, brown rice and wild rice now for weeks! Oh, and oat bran hot cereal. No sugar, no dairy, no starch for a few more months! I feel like a bunny rabbit! LOL I see them hopping around my yard and feel as if I should join them! I am on a special diet due to I lived in a place that had mold and it has made me sick…so i am getting it out of my bloodstream and my organs. It has nearly killed me. Sugar is like miracle gro for mold in your body.
Oh great very healthy eating habbit….. I wish if I could do the same well managed eater
lol……
It has its advantages..but I could really go for a nice zaatar (Manoshee) with zaytoon and banadura… mmmm! I love zaatar! Zaytoon is fattening though…so I do not eat lot’s of them anyways. I always tell my Lebanese people “Ziffer zaytoon! make you have kbeir butt!” as I hit my butt so they know what i mean..they laugh. You should see me explain to them why I don’t want any beans…. it’s like charades sometimes! It’s actually kind of fun! Or, to tell them I cleaned the toilet for them..I have to imitate cleaning at toilet, sometimes making the swoosh sound so they understand. I know 100+ Lebanese words, but I should ask what is the word for this so I don’t have to immitate. One day the Auntie was looking out the window, and it was raining. She is very religious, so I was shocked (she mostly speaks all Lebanese…) She looked at me and said, “Shitty outside?” I looked at her brother, he was laughing. He speaks some English and mostly Lebanese, but he apprently knows that what she said means something different in English. I looked at her with a half smile, startled, “siffer understand…” To them, they know I mean I don’t understand, siffer meaning nothing or zero in Lebanese Arabic. The man was still laughing and said something to her in Lebanese and she finally laughed. I told her this word in English mean poo poo! LOL There are quite a few words that mean something else in English that is not pleasant in English. It’s always funny, and then I wonder what English words I say that mean something like this to them..I hope none! LOL
Lolzzz, what a great experience….. thank you for being so kind and sharing it.
You’re welcome. I love my Lebanese people. I have been seeing them now for three years+. I have learned a great deal from them. I must say they are more respectful toward their family in the care of their elders than most Americans are. I have never seen such respect for family and togetherness as I have in their home. I think many American people could learn a thing or two from them. They treat their parents like royalty. This is the way it should be. Working in Nursing Homes for so many years, I have seen such mistreatment of the elderly, even by their children. Sadly, I had a lady recently in home care, and this is dispicable..but her grandson and his wife and kids moved in and t hey wanted her house because it was paid for, so they convinced everyone including the woman she was not in her right mind, put her into a nursing home, and took her house. My company and myself knew what was going on, but there was nothing we could do.
I am actually only assigned to the woman in this family, but I take care of all of them because they treat me like family and I treat them the same in return. They are wonderful, wonderful people.
There was also a big issue of the mistreatment of the elderly people in UK, it was raised and few of them got closed by the authorities. I wish they should have a fear of God that they have to grow old one day and it could happen to them.
I am glad to know that you have kind attitude towards the elderly.:)
I am an advocate for the elderly and I used to travel around and give in services and speak about resident rights and mistreatment. I have worked in many homes, and no matter how good they look, (the homes), or how promising, they are understaffed and people get neglected, they are left to lie around for hours sometimes in their own waste. They cry out, but no one comes. Usually this is because they are understaffed and the caretaker cannot help it. Most people who work in homes do not mean to neglect; rather, they are forced because they are assigned so many people per shift…and if someone calls off, they have an entire hall by themselves. It is very sad. I would pick one person every day to do special things for…a lady to fix her hair and makeup and a man to groom. They loved it! The ladies would feel so good about themselves when they had a little makeup on and their hair done. If they had not come out of their rooms for a while because they hid in their depressed…they were out strolling the halls in their wheelchairs showing off their new do and their makeup. Many people hear do not respect the elderly. Yes, there are a lot of mean elderly people around where I live; and many elderly are prejudice against younger people as well. Still, they should be treated much better than they are. It is most sad, as I’ve mentioned. I am also an advocate for children against abuse and abortion. I am pro life. I do not believe anyone but God has the decision to take a life.
I agree with you statement 100%…….:)
I figured you would..most people from the Middle East, as well as over in the orient, have great great respect for their family and elders. This is one thing America has lost over the many years… out of all of the countries, we probably, as a whole nation, have the least respect for seniors.
In Asia and Africa or Arabs and some of the eastern European perhaps have the traditional values. but it seems due to the materialist approach it is fading slowly. I hope if we may get ourselves educated on the humanity we may find it easy to accept that the elders are the one who brought us in this world.
As we say if you are a good human than u are a good Muslim.
So these other countries are slowly becoming the same in regards to how they treat the elderly?
Yep its a shame that we dont look deep inside our own hearts to do what the elders need.
I had no idea it was spreading over there as well. That is sad. I wonder why.
It is spreading all over due to the media as they are conveying the wrong msg to the youngsters without having a thought that they are causing destruction to our future generation.
This is a real problem. We must pray about this in sincerity, truth, and wisdom. Yes, many of the youngsters here are receiving this same message..total disrespect for authority and rebellion. God can only move in such a situation. However, unfortunately, something tells me it is only going to get worse, this problem these people are having. This will not resolve easily, I sense. More than at any other time, we must pray for the entire world situation. Did you hear what has happened to, oh help me…was it Greece or Egypt? The economy is so bad, they are literally in a sham.
You must be talking about Greece?
Yes….I believe it is Greece, but couldn’t remember positively. Thank you. Obviously, you have heard of what trouble has come upon them….
